Artificial intelligence is the most powerful general-purpose technology humanity has ever created. It reads code, interprets complex imagery, and reasons about systems. It generates solutions at a scale no human team can match. AI is an engine of cognitive acceleration. Ultimately, it can build entirely new industries, scientific tools, and engineering fields.

Had this technology emerged in an era driven by audacious human vision, it would be deployed to eradicate chronic disease, rebuild crumbling global infrastructure, democratize elite education, and propel human productivity into an exponential curve. Instead, short-sighted corporate stewards and venture-backed billionaires dominate AI today. Their grandest ambition for humanity’s ultimate breakthrough is shockingly mundane. They want to reduce headcount, trim operational expenses, and build a cost-reduced version of the present.

We hold Thor’s hammer—a tool capable of moving mountains and building empires. Yet, our tech leadership uses it as a simple claw hammer to drive nails faster.


The Shrinking Vision of Silicon Valley

Top AI leaders offer a surprisingly small vision. Executive narratives rarely focus on the new frontiers humanity can conquer together. Instead, they focus heavily on “efficiency gains,” “task automation,” and “headcount reduction.”

Tech leaders do not ask how AI can help a worker accomplish tenfold more work. Instead, they calculate how many workers they can eliminate today. Their own public quotes reveal a clear mindset of subtraction:

Sam Altman (CEO, OpenAI): Warned in an interview with The Atlantic that AI “will eliminate a lot of current jobs.” He called this reduction an unavoidable economic shift. In customer support, he told Fortune: “Now you call one of these things and AI answers… It’s like a super-smart, capable person… It does not make mistakes. It’s very quick. You call once, the thing just happens, it’s done.”

  • Satya Nadella (CEO, Microsoft): Stated in an announcement covered by CNBC that AI will “reshape every software category.” However, he anchored that transformation in “efficiency gains” and leaner teams.
  • Sundar Pichai (CEO, Alphabet): Framed the impact of AI in a 60 Minutes interview with CBS News as something that “will impact every product across every company.” He focused heavily on the “automation of tasks people do today.”
  • Jensen Huang (CEO, NVIDIA): Declared during a keynote covered by Reuters that “software will write software.” He implied that large portions of human software engineering work will simply disappear.
  • Mark Zuckerberg (CEO, Meta): Outlined Meta’s operational priorities in internal calls reported by Bloomberg. He aims to “automate more of what people do” to cut management layers.
